La Paz County applauded for its work on land conveyance

“You have no idea how much La Paz County is playing into the future of Federal lands,” U.S Arizona Dist. 4 Rep. Paul Gosar told the La Paz County Board of Supervisors June 10. “You are the precedent.”

Gosar was in Parker June 10 for a work session with the County Supervisors and other elected officials from around the county. He spoke at length about the La Paz Land Conveyance Act, by which the county has purchased almost 6,000 acres from the Bureau of Land Management for a large solar power development.

The land conveyance was approved as part of the John D. Dingell Jr. Conservation, Recreation and Management Act. This act consisted of 100 separate land use bills introduced by 50 Senators and some member of the House of Representatives. It was signed March 12, 2019 by President Donald Trump.

The County received title to the land May 22, in a special ceremony in Prescott with U.S. Interior Secretary David L. Berhnardt.
