Howler’s sports bar to take over ex-Thirsty Amigos building in Gilbert

BY JESS HARTER • TUESDAY, JUNE 16, 2020

Yet another concept is going into the former Thirsty Amigos Taco Shop at Gilbert Town Square. According to temporary signage, it next will become Howler’s Restaurant & Sports Bar.

The 6,300-square-foot building on Gilbert Road between Warner and Ray has been home to numerous failed restaurants in the past decade, including Steak & Stone, American Taphouse, BoomBozz Pizza, and Boston’s Gourmet Pizza.

Thirsty Amigos was the most recent, opening in February 2019 but closing about three months later. The building has sat empty for the past year.

According to its website, Howler’s will offer typical sports bar fare such as burgers, wraps, and personal pizzas.

Howler’s is owned by Scottsdale-based Group71, which also owns EuroCafe71 in north Scottsdale. Other Howlers locations are in the works for Scottsdale and Peoria.

Look for Howler’s to open by August.
